The drills — how to set each one up
- Leapfrog. No tees needed. Roll your first ball out to about 20 feet. Every putt after that has to finish just past the one before — never short of it, never soaring way by. See how many you can stack in a row.
- Eyes on the Hole. No setup at all. Find a long putt (30+ feet), take your stance, then look at the hole instead of the ball and roll it. Do a bunch this way to wake up your feel for distance.
- The Ladder. Push a tee in the green at 20 feet, another at 30, another at 40 — straight line out from where you putt. Roll one ball to finish just past the first tee, the next just past the second, the next past the third. Climb the rungs.
- The 3-Foot Circle. Stick six tees in the ground around a hole, evenly spaced, about three feet out (roughly a putter-length). Hole all six before you leave. Miss one and start the circle over.
The 15-minute plan
- 5 min — Eyes on the Hole, to find your feel.
- 5 min — The Ladder (20/30/40 ft), climb it twice.
- 5 min — The 3-Foot Circle. Finish on a make.
The 30-minute plan
- 5 min — Eyes on the Hole.
- 10 min — The Ladder, then Leapfrog.
- 10 min — Lag from 30 feet until three in a row stop within a putter-length of the hole; then back up to 40, then 50.
- 5 min — The 3-Foot Circle. Walk off on a make.
One rule ties it all together: a good putt dies just past the hole. Short never goes in.
